As the industry advances, ammonia (NH3) wastewater from urban or industrial sewage and landfill leachate is a growing concern because it leads the eutrophication of aquatic ecosystem. Recently, electrochemical NH3 oxidation has drawn attention, since theoretically it is similar anodic reaction and has lower potential as compared with water oxidation. However, it is still suppressed owing to poor kinetics of NH3 oxidation, so that it demands high polarization potential. In this regard, photoelectrochemical (PEC) approach becomes one of promising strategy. PEC ammonia oxidation process can improve the conversion efficiency against to electrochemical way by reducing its requiring overpotential. Herein, we adopted the phosphorylation method to convert the surface catalytic of BiVO4 photoanode to being suited for PEC NH3 degradation by hindering the competitive water oxidation reaction. |
