Synthesis of gold nanoparticle stabilized by ω-thiolated poly(ethylene oxide) |

Transition metal nano clusters may be used for a variety of application fields. Specifically, nanosized Au particles have been used in the bio-senser or the drug delivery system. In this respect, we developed new process to prepare nanosized Au particle using ω-thiolated poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO) as a polymeric stabilizer. n-Butyllithium-initiated ring-opening polymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of t-BuO-K+ was successfully carried out in the mixture of benzene and dimethylsulfoxide at 40℃ for 48h, followed by ω-thiolation by reacting with propylene sulfide. The functionalization yields were over 97 mol%. In this presentation, we will report the result for gold nanoparticle using ω-thiolated PEO |
