Cabazole-based polymers are one of the polymers in the spotlight because of good electrical, electrochemical and optical properties. Especially, carbazole units can be linked in two ways allowing 2,7-connected polymers or 3,6-connected polymers. To study the polymer properties, we synthesized the 2,7- and 3,6-carbazoles and tried to polymerize with DTBT. During the polymerization, we found the interesting things in P(3,6C-DTBT). Usually, molecular weight of P(2,7C-DTBT) is range from 10000 to 50000 Da. P(3,6C-DTBT), however, was propagated to ~5000Da. From this result, we assumed that there is some conformation in P(3,6C-DTBT). And we modified carbazole monomer to induce conformational changes and considered other factors to prevent propagation such as solubility. From the experiment, we could consider that special conformation was existed in P(3,6C-DTBT) and it can be possible to change properties of polymers by control of conformation and modification of monomers. |
