Biomass is one of the effective alternative energy and chemical resources through the conversion of biomass into useful chemical compounds such as syngas, hydrocarbons and organic intermediates. In addition, biomass-derived organic compounds such as polyols, ethylene glycol and glycerol can be efficiently converted to hydrogen and alkanes by aqueous phase reforming. In the present study, platinum containing bimetals such as rhenium, cobalt, ruthenium supported on ceria-zirconia mixed oxides was investigated to verify the effects of second metal for catalytic activity. Ceria-zirconia was synthesized by sol-gel method and metal precursors were subsequently impregnated by incipient wetness method on the as-prepared ceria-zirconia support, and Pt-Ru/CeO2-ZrO2 catalyst showed significantly enhanced catalytic performance among the tested catalysts. Chemical and physical properties of final catalysts were characterized by using XRD, H2-TPR and BET and so on. |
