The macroscopic assemblies by carbon nanotube liquid crystal (CNT-LC) have been attracting growing attention due to its superior properties originated from their highly packed structure. Meanwhile, demonstration of macroscopic assemblies of boron nitride nanotube(BNNT), emerging ceramic nanotube with high specific strength, oxidation resistance, has been remained as a challenging goal due to its poor dispersion stability at high concentration which is enough to form lyotropic LC. In this talk, we suggest a facile approach to preparing BNNT-LC with a specifically designed stabilizer. The lyotropic phase transition behavior of BNNT-LC was analyzed systematically by the careful study on its rheological and optical properties. |
