Using the Monte Carlo Ising and Potts model, we investigated the microstructural evolution of the porous metal system during coarsening. In particular, the variation of the average size of ligaments was measured to illucidate the collective behavior of porous metal system under coarsening. We observed that the averaged size and shape of ligaments as well as those of grains changes as a function of the simulation temperature, grain boundary energy, and heterophase interfacial energy. Also, we found out that, depending on the types of spin change mechanism, kinetic behavior of the microstructural evolution varies, average size of the microstructural feature being proportional to various values of growth exponents. |
