제목 CuO coating effect on the optical properties of (Fe,Cr)2O3–TiO2 pigment
초록 Near-infrared (NIR) reflective pigments play a key role in enabling self-driving cars or robots to operate safely in an autonomous environment. A light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor is essential for autonomous vehicles to read the distance from other objects and drive successfully with nonproblem. However, dark-tone vehicles and infrastructure have low reflectivity to LiDAR laser light (905 nm), making it difficult for LiDAR sensors to detect them. Thus, the development of new dark-tone pigments with high LiDAR-detection performance is an essential challenge task for the commercialization of future autonomous vehicles. In this work, TiO2 nanoparticles were dispersed within a (Fe,Cr)2O3 matrix through spray pyrolysis, and CuO nanoparticles were coated on the prepared (Fe,Cr)2O3-TiO2 composite pigment by vacuum drying. The optical properties of the resulting pigments were investigated by varying the CuO content and heat treatment temperature. TiO2-dispersed (Fe,Cr)2O3 pigments exhibited significantly improved reflection for 905 nm LiDAR light, but low blackness. The CuO coating was effective to improve the blackness of (Fe,Cr)2O3-TiO2 composite pigment good LiDAR reflection.
