In this study, we developed an active hydrocarbon trap with additional low-temperature HC oxidation property. In here, two types of zeolite were used as supports: Na-form and H-form MFI. After Cu impregnation, CuO particles were formed largely on the surface of Na-form MFI particles than H-form MFI particles, on the contrary, H-form MFI has much more Cu+ ions. From the cold-start test results, it is revealed that the Cu-impregnated H-form MFI has much improved adsorption ability and oxidation properties than Na-form MFI. Furthermore,we found a relationship between the efficiency and the physical/chemical properties of HC trap. Moreover, we also elucidate that the tiny CuO particles on the outer surface of Cu-impregnated H-form MFI decrease the oxidation temperature by comparing various oxidation test results. |
