Cyclodextrins(CDs) are chemically, physically stable and well known as organic biocompatible substances. In this study, cyclodextrin having polymerizable double bonds and sulfonic acid or carboxylic acid functionalities was synthesized and photopolymerized by visible light irradiation in the wavelength range 400-500nm. FT-IR, ¹HNMR, ¹³CNMR and MALDI-TOF were used for the characterization of glass ionomer cements(GICs). The experimental GICs were formulated with cyclodextrin derivatives, water and commercial Fuji Ⅱ LC glass. Experimental GICs were formulated by changing liquid ratio and P/L ratio to find optimal mechanical strength. Finally experimental GICs formulated by cyclodextrin derivatives with double bond and carboxylic acid showed highest mechanical strengths such as compressive strength(CS), diamatral tensile strength(DTS) as well as better shrinkages and viscosities. |
