To understand the relationship between the molecular packing structure of aromatic materials and heat management properties, porphyrin based discotic reactive metallomesogens (PDRM) were newly synthesized. The PDRM exhibits columnar structures by p-stacking interactions and self-assembly, and those phases were fixed by the reactive dendritic alkyl chain. Based on thermal and scattering analyses, it was realized that PDRM formed various columnar structure by the substituted metal atoms. These various structures were determined by the diameter of the metal atoms, thereby varying the planarity and crystallinity of PDRM. Consequentially, the PDRM substituted by Zn was show the highest thermal conductivity. The PDRM can be applied to the heat management materials for display.
