제목 Effects of Interfacial Affinity on the Thermal Conducting Properties of Liquid Crystal-based Composites
초록 Highly thermal conducting composites are developed using expanded graphite (EG) and boron nitride (BN). As a polymeric medium of the composites, polymerizable discotic liquid crystal (DLC) molecules were synthesized. Although thermal conductivies of both DLC-EG and DLC-BN composites are enhanced, DLC-EG composites show higher thermal conductivity than DLC-BN at same amount of fillers. Spectroscopic and diffraction analyses reveal that the DLC matrix present better interfacial affinity with EG than BN. Based on the experimental and theoretical interpretation, it was determined that the appropriate chemical and physical interactions at the interface are crucial for enhancing the thermal conducting properties. The highly thermal condunting DLC composites are expected to serve as heat dissipating materials for display devices.
