제목 Morphology-controlled growth and photoelectrochemical properties of few-layer MoS2 nanosheets
초록 The development of advanced materials for efficient photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is notable topic to the field of renewable energy. Two-dimensional (2D) metal chalcogenides, such as MoS2, MoSe2, and WS2, has been attracted huge research attention as a promising semiconductor for PEC water splitting due to their great electric transportation property, and strong PEC reaction under visible light. Among them, MoS2 in 2D semiconductor with superior absorption on visible light and high catalytic activity has noticeable potential to applications based on PEC water splitting. Herein, we fabricated a PEC cell based various morphology of MoS2 on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method. PEC photocurrent of vertically grown MoS2 nanosheets was significantly enhanced compared to MoS2 nanoparticle due to the efficient transfer of charge carrier and high density active site. The improved photocurrent on PEC performance was attributed to the efficient charge separation and improved light absorption of MoS2 nanosheets. Meanwhile, photocurrent property of further thick nanosheets was decrease due to the diffusion length limit of carriers. This work suggest a valuable design of photoelectrode for suitable morphology like nanosheets for efficient PEC water splitting.
