제목 Lithium-Graphite Hybrid Anode for High Energy Li-Ion Batteries
초록 As increasing the demand for longer driving range of electrical vehicle, the importance of developing lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with higher energy density keeps growing. One of the methods to increase energy density of LIBs is to utilize an electrode material with a higher gravimetric capacity. In the case of anode material, a graphite anode (360 mAh g-1) has been utilized since the first commercial LIBs was developed with LiCoO2-graphite chemistry in 1991, and recently a silicon-graphite anode with silicon ratio up to 5wt% (500 mAh g-1) is utilized for high energy commercial LIBs. The successful research results regarding silicon-carbon anode (> 1000 mAh g-1) and lithium anode which has extremely high theoretical capacity (3860 mAh g-1) have been reported numerously in academia, however the results have not yet been transferred to the industry because of practical problems such as scalability and cost. Herein, a new strategy of lithium-graphite hybrid anode that combines lithium and graphite will be introduced. In this study, we used lithiophilic coating and gel electrolyte to make lithium plating, which was considered an irreversible reaction, a reversible reaction.
