Fabrication of hierarchical tree-like Fe-Co-P@Ni(OH)2 core-shell nanowire/nanosheet arrays as advanced electrode material for asymmetric supercapacitors |

Transition metal phosphides (TMPs) have been widely investigated for supercapacitors because of their high electrical conductivity, excellent redox activity, and metalloid feature. TMP-based materials suffer from poor rate capability and inferior long-term cyclic efficiency, which inhibit their useful practical applications. In this study, hierarchical Fe-Co-P@Ni(OH)2 core@shell architecture was synthesized on a 3D nickel foam. The Fe-Co-P@Ni(OH)2 material as positive electrode material shows an ultra-high specific capacity of 380.61 mA h g-1 at 5 mA cm−2 and an good cycling stability performance (~ 90% after 5000 cycles). The polyacrylonitrile derived nitrogen doped carbon nanofiber (NCF) as negative electrodes shows 44.5 mA h g−1 at 5 mA cm−2. Moreover, the assembled Fe-Co-P@Ni(OH)2//NCF asymmetric supercapacitor device delivers a high energy density of 65.09 W h kg−1 at 530.06 W kg−1 and an excellent cyclic stability of 91% after 5000 cycles. |
