This work has mainly focused on the synthesis and characterization of titanium and metal oxide based one dimensional titania nanostructures via sol–gel electrospinnig technique. The physicochemical properties of the synthesized nanomaterials were determined by X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The antibacterial activity was tested against four common pathogenic bacteria viz., S. aureus, E. coli, S. typhimurium and K. pneumoniae by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method and the morphological features after exposure of nanotextured materials were examined by Bio-TEM. The probable antibacterial mechanism has also been discussed briefly. |
