We developed a redox sensitive polymer dot-based drug delivery system using disulfide and BODIPY for cancer diagnosis. The disulfide bond crosslinked inside the polymer dot is designed to stably load paclitaxel and BODIPY, and be selectively released according to the redox sensitive conditions. We confirmed a profile in which 100% of paclitaxel is released as the disulfide bond is broken by the high GSH level. In addition, fluorescence is not visible due to the quenching effect by BODIPY loading, however it is possible to visually monitor as the fluorescence quenched by the high GSH level inside the cancer cells recovers. This system is sensitive to pH and redox and can be useful for a wider range of applications, as it enables cancer cell treatment and diagnosis by fluorescence monitoring.
