제목 Dual control of molecular weight and stereospecificity of unconjugated polymers via RAFT process in fluoroalcohols.
초록 Controlling structures of unconjugated vinyl monomers is a challenging task for polymer synthetic chemists. The polymerizations of such monomers proceed very rapidly to give uncontrolled structures. Vinyl acetate(VAc) and N-vinylpyrrolidone(VP) are examples of the unconjugated monomers. Industrially useful polymers are highly affected by its primary structures. However, it is very difficult to control with conventional radical polymerizations. Reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization(RAFT) is one of the remarkable method for controlling molecular weight of polymers. On the other hand, bulky fluoroalcohol has been known to be efficient to control of tacticity of polymers by a steric repulsion. In this work, we synthesized PVA and PVP with dual controll of molecular weight and tacticity using RAFT process in bulky fluoroalcohol. Effects of the polymerization conditions on the structures of the prepared polymers will be discussed.
