A problem remains the simple synthesis of effective electrocatalysts capable of selectively converting CO2 to value-added chemicals. Herein, the electrochemical synthesis of porous Bi dendrite electrodes and details of their activity toward CO2 conversion to formate in aqueous solutions are presented. The multi-layered, poreful and dendritic Bi electrode, as synthesized, has a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of about 100% (-0.85~–1.15 V vs. RHE) for formation of formate in CO2 saturated bicarbonate solutions. Then, its CO2RR performance in artificial marine water was evaluated, at approximately -1.0 V vs RHE, the current efficiency of formate was almost 100 percent, and 160 umol h-1 cm-2 of fomate was generated. |
