제목 Metal Carbonate-Mineralized Nanoparticles for Multimodal Imaging of Cancers
초록 Multimodal imaging techniques, which improve diagnostic performance by combining existing imaging modalities, have attracted a growing interest in cancer diagnosis. Herein, we developed two classes of contrast agents for multimodal MR/ultrasound (US) imaging. The first system is a paramagnetic Gd2O3 nanoparticle-shielded CaCO3-mineralized nanoparticlea (Gd2O3-MNP) that can generate CO2 bubbles for US imaging and simultaneously release Gd2O3 nanoparticles for MR imaging in response to tumoral acidic pH. At tumoral pH (6.4), there were strong echogenic signals due to CO2 bubble generation, and the Gd2O3-MNP effectively released Gd2O3 nanoparticles, thereby resulting in a MR contrast enhancement. The second system is a MnCO3-mineralized nanoparticle (MnCO3-MNP). The MnCO3-MNP generated simultaneously CO2 bubbles and Mn2+ ions for US and T1 Imaging at tumoral pH, respectively. These activatable dual-modality contrast agents may find a broad applicability in tumor diagnosis.
