Study of the flow mark in the injection molding of PP/Rubber and PP/Talc blend |

Flow mark is a kind of surface defect that can arise during the filling stage of the injection molding process. The purpose of this study is to clarify a mechanism of the flow mark that appears on the surface of injection molded PP through the observation of the surface structure. The materials used in this experiment were PP/rubber and PP/talc compounding, which were widely used for automobile part. The flow mark had two different constitutions, such as the high gloss part and the low gloss part, alternately on the both surface. It was obvious that the high gloss part have the smooth surface from the surface analysis of the article. The structure of the cloud part was quite different from luster part. We investigated the surface structure of PP/rubber and PP/talc blends by using SEM, OM. Also we investigated flow mark length percent and flow length by using Gloss meter, Capillary rheometer. |
