In-line measurement of rheological properties during twin screw extrusion processing of highly filled PBX simulant materials |

By adopting twin screw extrusion in the manufacturing of polymer-bonded expolsive (PBX) we can greatly reduce environmental impact, protect operators from harmful solvents and avoid accidental casualties. Furthermore twin screw extrusion offers end product with well dispersed quality and low residence time. In this study, practical aspect of production technology for the highly filled PBX simulant using twin screw extruder as well as in-line measurement of rheological properties during twin screw extrusion of highly filled PBX simulant materials are presented. The effects of feeding method, operating conditions and screw configuration on the properties of PBX simulant were discussed. |
