제목 Mechanical Strength and in Vitro Performance of β-Tricalcium Phosphate Scaffolds  by a Polyurethane Foam Replication Technique
초록 This study aimed to explore the characterization and mechanical strength of beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) scaffold. At first, β-TCP scaffold was fabricated by replica method using polyurethane (PU) foam as a passing material; follow by mixing slurry of poly vinyl butyl (PVB), commercial β-TCP powder and triethyl phosphate (TEP) stirred vigorously in ethanol (100%). The samples was investigated by optical microscope, FE-SEM, XRD, Instron machine and MTT assay were used to analyze the element, characterize, mechanical strength and cytotoxicity of the β-TCP scaffold.
Through the image of optical microscope in low-high magnification presented that the interconnected pore increased as coating time increased whilst the pore size decreased. An image of FE-SEM showed the surface roughness with an interconnected pore and pore size of approximately 60-100 μm and 150-950 μm respectively, had a compressive strength of 0.88 MPa by using Instron machine. The MTT assays of in vitro cell cultures showed a good ability of the scaffolds to support the proliferation of MC3T3-E1 osteoblast cells at two culture intervals.
