We have successfully synthesized the water-soluble light-harvesting porphyrin dendrimers, to mimic natural light-harvesting antenna systems. The porphyrin dendrimers serve as light-harvesting antenna consisting of a focal energy-accepting porphyrin and eight peripheral energy-donating porphyrins. The surface of porphyrin dendrimers was encapsulted with hydrophilic groups to give high water-solubility. The porphyrin dendrimers were fully characterized by using 1H-NMR, MALDI-TOF-MS, UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies. Herein, we report on intramolecular energy transfer properties of pophyrin dendrimers in a variety of aqueous mediums. |
