제목 Mechanical and chemical activation of hydraulic cement properties in reduction electric-arc furnace slag
초록 When activated mechanically and chemically, reduction electric-arc furnace slag (REAF slag) demonstrated a high hydraulic cement activity. The extent of this activity depended on the removal of Fe-containing impurities, coming to 10-12% of the total; fineness of slag particles - the best in powder form with the specific surface no less than 2.500-3.000 cm2/g (Blain); kind and dosage of activators used, and curing conditions. In its highest hydraulic activity, as high as 17 MPa at the age of 28 days, the REAF slag can be usable as an OPC substitute in the blended cement (BC) compositions, with no negative effect on strength development and slight retardation in setting time.
