제목 Small Angle X-ray Scattering Study of Lamellar Semicrystalline Morphology of Ethylene Copolymers
초록 It is well established that incorporation of small amounts of short chain branches in ethylene copolymers significantly improves the mechanical strengths by strain-hardening, while the melting temperature and the crystallinity are reduced. Moreover, the type of the branches (e.g., ethyl verus hexyl) is also known to make an important difference in the strain-hardening characteristics. However, the origin of this surprising and important effect is still not understood. This talk will present the latest results of our research project to investigate the lamellar semicrystalline morphology of ethylene copolymers as function of the branch type and branch content, by primarily employing the small angle x-ray scattering () method. The lamellar semicrystalline morphology in quench-crystallized samples and the change during the heating to the melting temperature will be discussed, as well as the formation of the lamellar structure during the isothermal crystallization at different temperatures.
