제목 | Late Dewetting Stage of Inverted PVP/PS Bilayer Thin Films |
초록 | We have reported unusual behavior of inverted PVP/PS bilayer thin films, which was prepared by spin coating PS onto silicon wafer and then PVP on top of PS layer. When the inverted bilayer was annealed well above the glass transition temperatures of both PVP and PS, the dewetting of lower PS layer is much more accelerated than in the PS homolayer itself. Finally, it was observed that upper PVP layer was sporadically distributed right on the substrate and was covered with lower PS layer. In this study, the dewetting process of PVP/PS inverted bilayer thin film was investigated to identify the mechanism of layer inversion. Once the bilayer ruptures and the dewetted holes are created, these holes grow with time until the rims merge and build up a polygonal pattern over the whole surface of a substrate. The behaviors of upper PVP layer and lower PS layer at the late stage of dewetting process were examined by optical microscopy (OM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The way how the physical confinement of lower PS layer is overcome and the layer inversion is induced was also discussed. |
