In this presentation, we will addressthe critical roles of high functional electrocatalyst on the performance ofLi-S batteries, similar to the oxygen reaction in the aqueous system. Despitethe outstanding theoretical energy density and the expected cost-effectiveness,the main challenging issues are severe performance decay and poor ratecapability resulting from the insulating sulfur, shuttle effect, and slow redoxkinetics. On this aspect, developing a high functional electrocatalyst on thecathode side is required. Our research team has focused on the similarity ofthe electrochemical redox reaction of sulfur to that of oxygen, like OER andORR in the aqueous electrochemical system. Based on that, we designed the highfunctional electrocatalysts for the fast kinetic polysulfides redox reaction toenhance both sulfur utilization rate and cycle performance. |
