제목 Molecular mechanism underlying the anti-skin-aging effect of photodynamic therapy using chlorin e6
초록 The major causes of clinical skin changes, observed in naturally aged and photoaged skin, have been suggested to be extensive degradation of collagen. Thus, stimulation of collagen production while inhibiting the major collagen degrading enzymes in skin has emerged as an important strategy for the development of an anti-aging agent. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a clinically approved therapeutic for cancers and non-neoplastic diseases, based on the use of a photosensitizer activated by light. In this study, in vitro and in vivo anti-aging effect of PDT, using chlorin e6 as a photosensitizer, was investigated. Chlorin e6-mediated PDT promoted collagen production, while it suppressed MMPs expression via modulating AP-1 signaling in HaCaT cells. Chlorin e6-mediated PDT also suppressed P. acnes-induced inflammation via modulating NFκB and MAPK signals. In addition, anti-wrinkle, anti-lipogenesis in sebocytes, and anti-allergic dermatitis effect of PDT will be presented in this study.
