Fabrication of polyaniline/carbonyl iron core-shell structured magnetic microsphere and its magnetorheology |

We fabricated polyaniline (PANI) coated magnetic carbonyl iron (CI) microspheres through a dispersion polymerization method, in which the CI particles were modified with dopamine as a grafting agent in order to strengthen the affinity of the PANI. The surface morphology of the synthesized core-shell particles was observed by scanning electron microscopy, while chemical composition of dopamine-modified CI particle was confirmed by EDS. Magnetic property of the particles was analyzed by VSM. Magnetorheological (MR) behavior of the CI-PANI particles measured using a rotational rheometer exhibited a typical MR property. The sedimentation stability of the microspheres was also detected via a Turbiscan apparatus, representing a better dispersion stability than the pure CI particles. |
