Low band-gap Alternating Copolymers containingDonor and Acceptor Units: Synthesis and Photovoltaic Devices |

The concept of internal electron donoracceptor (DA) interaction has been extensively exploited to prepare low band-gap organic semiconductors. Using this strategy, new low band-gap polymers have been developed to expand the absorption spectrum to NIR range. In addition, it is generally accepted that the formation of strong intermolecular stacking is necessary to achieve high charge mobility in organic semiconductors. In order to increase the absorption wavelength and decrease the band-gap of the polymer, cyclopentadithiophene as an electron-donating units and 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole as an electron-accepting unit were employed to synthesize the polymers. We also investigated the thermal, optical and electrochemical properties of the low band-gap polymer including their possibility for electronic and optolectronic devices. |
