We investigate the morphology of SM/AN (SAN) copolymer particles (CPP) in polyether polyol solution, the additive of polyurethane foam, utilizing ‘MesoDyn’ density functional simulations. The SAN copolymer particles are stabilized by the grafting agent (stabilizer) which is made of several chemicals. The micelle morphology of CPP particles can be calculated from different values of the mutual interaction parameters. The calculated micelle structure is shown to compare well with experimental observations. The change in the micelle number and size distribution of the calculated morphology of CPP with three different stabilizers (1, 2, and 3) can be observed. The micelle number increases in order of stabilizer2 > stabilizer3 > stabilizer1. Also we found that the micelle size increases with decreasing the micelle number. The micelle size distribution with stabilizer2 is observed to be more uniform than the others. |
