Ni-promoted tungsten carbide particles were prepared by using SiO2 hard template and used as dispersed catalysts for upgrading of vacuum residue. The catalytic activity of tungsten carbide was known as platinum-like behavior and it could be improved when proper amount of Ni was added. It is known that the carburization degree of tungsten carbide, which means ratio of tungsten carbide phase and the other phases, could be increased at surface of catalysts. In results, dispersed Ni0.2W0.8C catalyst showed high catalytic performance not only in commercial liquid yield (Naphtha, middle distillate, and gas oil; 59.0 wt.%) but also in coke formation (6.2 wt.%). |
