Molecular imprinting technique has been identified as one of the simple and cheap alternatives of synthetic methods to prepare bioreceptors, and was studied extensively for various applications ranging from sensing to separations. We reported already that the TiO2 gel matrix could be used as the highly effective matrix material for molecular imprinting. In this study, TiO2 gel matrices were used as a molecular imprinting matrix for 2-naphthol. The molecularly imprinted TiO2 gel thin film was fabricated on an activated quartz plates by spin coating with the solution of Ti(O-nBu)4 and 2-naphthaol in toluene/ethanol (1:1, v/v). The removal of 2-naphthol and its rebinding in molecularly imprinted TiO2 gel were confirmed by UV spectroscopy. The 2-naphthol-imprinted TiO2 gel films showed better recognition and higher selectivity toward 2-naphthol than toward other similar materials. |
