Effect of N-doped TiO2 on photocatalytic activity of activated carbon fibers |

In this work, we have prepared activated carbon fibers (ACF) impregnated with N-doped TiO2 via a simple sonochemical synthesis. The morphologies were observed by scanning elctron microscopy (SEM) measurements. The surface properties were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The textural properties were analyzed by N2/77 K adsorption/desorption isotherms. The photocatalytic activity was measured using methyl orange as organic pollutant under visible light irradiation. Consequently the N-doped TiO2/ACF composites showed enhanced photocatalytic behaviors than P25. These results may be ascribed from the combined effect between the excellent adsorption properties of the ACF and the visible light photoactivity of the N-doped TiO2. |
