In this study, the composition effects of an epoxy and polyimide blend system on the thermal and mechanical properties of epoxy/polyimide blended composites were investigated. N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) was used as a solvent for polyimide and the content of polyimide in the mixture was 0-50 phr. The thermal properties of the blend system were investigated by DSC, TGA, DMA, and TMA. In addition, the flexural and impact strength specimen on blended composition were manufactured according to ASTM D790 and ASTM D256, and were measured using UTM and Izod impact testing machine. After the impact test, the surface morphology of the fractured surface was observed with a SEM. In conclusion, the thermal properties of the epoxy/polyimide blend system were not improved, but the flexural and impact strength of the EPI-105 sample were enhanced by 77.39 and 129.15% compared to that of the pure epoxy, respectively. |
