제목 Vertically aligned MoS2 thin film catalysts decorated with Metal Sulfide for efficient solar water splitting
초록 Global warming, caused by greenhouse gases, has been emerging as one of the biggest environmental issue. The raising temperature could be very harmful to us and our earth. The greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, is emitted through the burn of fossil fuels. Therefore, new eco-friendly energy source that can be replaceable the fossil fuel is needed to be developed. The solar water splitting has been attractive to promising approach.

In this study, we deomonstrated vertically aligned molybdenum disulfide (v-MoS2) thin film decorated with Ni-Fe sulfide nanoparticles through one-step sulfurization of metal thin film precursor using chemical vapor deposition method for solar water splitting. The physical property of the Ni-Fe sulfide nanoparticles changed between the metallic and semiconducting property by the different Ni/Fe thickness ratios in precursor. The Fe-doped Ni3S2 Nanoparticles/v-MoS2/p-Si photocathode exhibited large onset potential shift of 0.63 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) with respect to bare p-Si photocathode and a photocurrent density as high as 25.44 mA/cm2 at 0 V vs. RHE. The band energy diagram of the heterostructure between Fe:Ni3S2, v-MoS2, and p-Si showed the metallic Fe:Ni3S2 induced downward band bending at the surface of v-MoS2, which facilitated the efficient transport of photogenerated electrons to the surface from the p-Si.
