Controlled release with stimuli-responsive hydrogels has been received great attentions, because it enables on-demand control. Here, we developed light-triggered release system with thermo-responsive polymer containing photothermal iron oxide nanoparticles. Hydrogel matrices were prepared by copolymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide and hydrophobic 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone to adjust lower critical solution temperature of hydrogel near body temperature. We found that volume of hydrogel beads could be controlled by irradiating visible light of modest intensity, consequently release of drug can be triggered by turning light on. |
