CCS processes involve carbon dioxide mixtures with impurities whose properties can be advantageously calculated using an equation of state. The mixture may contain nitrogen, oxygen, methane, hydrogen sulfide, nitric oxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen and water. Studies have been reported on the comparisons of modeling mostly binary water free mixtures. Typical equations of state applicable to vapor-liquid equilibria of water containing mixtures such as PSRK, PC-SAFT, NLFHB and GERG 2008 models are selected for comparisons in this study considering the importance water in the mixture in gas hydrate formation and corrosion. PSRK represents cubic EOS with GE-EOS mixing rule, PC-SAFT hard sphere chain based association model, NLFHB lattice fluid based association model and GERG 2008 empirically fitted Helmholtz free energy model. Strong points and weaknesses of models are discussed. |
