제목 Evaluations of Polypropylene grafted with Maleic Anhydride and Styrene as a Compatibilizer for Polypropylene/Clay Nanocomposites
초록 PP-g-MA (Polypropylene grafted with Maleic Anhydride) is known to be most efficient compatibilizer used in PP/clay nanocomposites since it provides the well dispersed nano structures and best physical properties of the nanocomposites. One drawback of this material is that it becomes brittle and its viscosity decreases drastically leading to nanocomposites with low toughness as a graft degree of the MA in the PP-g-MA increases. In this study, we investigated the performances of a PP grafted with a maleic anhydride and styrene (PP-g-MA-St) as compatibilizers in PP/clay nanocomposites. It was found that the incorporation of styrene as a comonomer is very effective way to prevent the molecular weight upon high loading of a radical initiator for the high graft degree of the MA group. The compatibilizers (PP-g-MA-co-styrene) thus obtained show good performance as a compatibilizer in the PP/clay nanocomposites.
