제목 MorphologicalControl of Binary Block Copolymer Micelle Complexes Employing pH-Tunable Interparticle Interaction in Dilute Aqueous Media
초록 The morphology of charged block copolymer micelle complexes, consisting of poly(styrene-b-acrylic acid)(PS-b-PAA) and poly(styrene-b-4-vinyl pridine)(PS-b-P4VP)micelles, was controlled by pH of aqueous solvent. The charge densities of corona blocks (either PAA or P4VP blocks) dispersed in water were quite sensitive to solution pH. The high pH region (pH>6.5) is particularly interesting in the present case due to the formation of spherical micelle superlattices since the degree of ionization of the P4VP blocks is almost negligible. These spherical clusters were then slowly transformed into different morphologies when the solution pH was adjusted to the range where both of the corona blocks are oppositely charged. The present study demonstrates that the kinetic pathway for the formation and transformation of micelle complexes at various solution pHs is significantly important for the control of packing symmetry.
