제목 PVA/chitosan/TiO2/MWCNT nanocomposites for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants
초록 Nanocomposites consisting of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), chitosan, TiO2 and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were prepared for photocatalytic water purification applications. PVA and chitosan were employed as matrices due to non-toxic and good biocompatibility as well as hydrophilic characteristics. TiO2 was used as a photocatalyst for the detoxification of aqueous effluents. MWCNT was used to improve both mechanical properties of nanocomposites and photocatalytic activity of TiO2. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by measuring the photodegradation of model pollutant under UV light. The mechanical property was investigated by UTM measurement. Both photocatalytic activity and mechanical property of prepared nanocomposite were enhanced by the synergetic effect of TiO2 and MWCNT.
