Application and Processing of Functional Polymers in Supercritical CO2, Hydrofluoroethers and Linear Methyl Siloxanes |

In this presentation, it is reported that functional polymers play an important role in chemical synthesis of useful compounds and materials processing for device fabrication together with unconventional but advantageous solvents, including supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), hydrofluoroethers and linear methyl siloxanes. The Merrifield resin was transformed into a solid-state phase transfer catalyst which acts as an initiator in the modified diaryl ether synthesis. Highly fluorinated polyfluorene derivatives having fluorine content as high as 60 wt% were processed successfully in hydrofluoroethers in the construction of full-colour OLED pixel arrays. Finally, linear methyl siloxanes which have environmentally-friendly character and a very low surface tension were applied in microphotolithography along with ordinary photoresist materials resulting in high resolution images down to 30 nm regime. |
