Recently, the low molecular weight organogels have been intensively investigated. The organogels are formed by the self-assembly of the organogelator molecules in the solvents in very low concentration (< 2 wt%). They thermoreversibly self-assemble into three dimensional network structures and the resulting organogels show viscoelastic rheological behaviors. In this work, we prepared novel polar polycatenar-type organogelators. The gelator molecules investigated in this study, have a rod-like rigid part containing a polar cyano group and a half-disc part composed of long alkyl phenyl groups. At the gelation test using various solvent, the gelator could gelate n-alkanes. And the structure of xerogel was observed by XRD, SEM. |
