Abstract Poly(butylene succinate/citrate)(PBSC) and Poly(butylene adipate/citrate)(PBAC) exhibit outstanding characteristics as a biobased polyester elastomer (BPE) : Short synthesis time, Cost effectiveness, High elastic property. Previous BPEs required post-polymerization step at least 24 hours after the synthesis of pre-polymer as a batch process. In the case of PBSCs and PBACs, since gelation occurs in the batch process, the additional post-polymerization is not needed and only 12 hours for film preparation except batch process is required. PBSCs and PBACs are composed of three different matters respectively, however, they are more inexpensive than other two-component BPEs due to cost effectiveness of succinic acid, adipic acid and 1,4-butanediol. Most of previous BPEs have represented extensional property in the range of 200% to 400%. PBSCs and PBACs can be stretched up to 455%, which signifies very high elasticity and then suggests that PBSCs and PBACs can be promising BPEs. |
