Adhesive has been developed to have thin and flexible properties for applications such as electronic devices, microfluidic devices and encapsulation. Especially pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is one of good candidates for thin and flexible adhesive system due to their viscoelastic property. The viscoelastic nature of PSA can impart good adhesion between various substrates, but these viscoelastic properties are required to be adjusted for various applications. In this study, we suggest fabrication process, which can control the viscoelastic property of PSA in one-step. To develop adhesive, two acrylate monomers are polymerized via initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) with ultraviolet (UV) exposure. The polymer adhesive has the low glass transition temperature, which allows the soft and tackiness. Additionally, acrylate monomer can be cross-linked in polymerization step with UV exposure, so viscoelastic properties of polymer controlled though regulating degree of cross-linking. |
