There is an increasing environmental challenge for polymeric materials and processing systems, including polyurethanes and cellulose, which are currently used in a wide range of applications. For the purpose, we have synthesized a new waterborne polyurethane (WBPU) and have manufactured a series of WBPU-based nanocomposites films reinforced by carboymethylated nanocellulose (CMNC). The molecular structure, morphological features, thermal and mechanical properties of the WBPU/CMNC nanocomposite films are systematically characterized by using FTIR, SEM, DSC, TGA, DMA and tensile tests, and the results are discussed in terms of the CMNC content. |
