Recently, there has been a huge demand for substituting wood fiber with non-wood fibers. Representative non-wood fibers are hemp, flax, mulberry, abaca, kenaf, ramiel, mulberry, and jute. These fibers have high tensile strength, elongation and tensile energy absorption. Therefore, this paper is aimed to compare chemical compositions of these non-wood fibers for producing viscose rayon. We analyzed chemical compositions such as α-cellulose, holocellulose, lignin, extractives, and ash content to identify which material is appropriate to produce viscose rayon. |
