Effect of steam activation on hydrogen storage behaviors of microporous carbons produced from rice husks |

Future energy technologies that use hydrogen as an energy carrier offer the tantalizing prospect of operating essentially free of pollution and greenhouse emissions while utilizing the hydrogen produced from a wide range of renewable sources. We have prepared the microporous carbon synthesized by pyrolysis of rice husks as a function of the steam activation temperature, and evaluated the hydrogen storage capacity. The structural porperties were characterized scanning electron microscope (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The textural properties were investigated by N2/77 K isotherms. The hydrogen storage capacity was investigated by BEL-HP at 298 K/100 bar and 77 K/1 bar. From these results, hydrogen storage capacity was enhanced with increasing specific surface area and microporosity |
