Quantification of Rust on the Surface of Steel by Color Analysis |

This study was performed for quantitative analysis of rust on the surface of steel using Scion Image software which is a digital graphic program. To evaluate rust on steel surfaces ASTM D 610 was used in industies, but this test method was very difficult for us to evaluate the degree of rust objectively. In this study, we used a scanner and a Scion Image Program for the quantitative analysis of rust generated to the surface on specimen which was exposured under the condition of environmental chamber. As a result of test we could quantify as percent on the area and distribution of visible surface rust through gray scale and color analysis. |
