제목 Fe-sericite composite beads: A sustainable adsorbent for the removal of As(V) from aqueous solutions
초록  The present study addresses the preparation and characterization of Fe-sericite composite beads and its efficient utilization in the removal of As(V) from aqueous solutions. Fine sericite powder was modified using iron-oxide. The sorption data was collected as a function of sorptive pH, initial As(V) concentration, contact time and background electrolyte concentrations. The composite beads showed high percent removal of As(V) within a wide pH range i.e., between pH 3.0- 8.0. Moreover, a high percentage removal was obtained in a wide range of initial As(V) concentrations and the equilibrium sorption data were reasonably fitted well to the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. Further, the fixed-bed column experiment was performed and the breakthrough data were modelled using non-linear Thomas equation. This study demonstrated that Fe-sericite composite beads were found to be an effective and efficient material in the remediation of water contaminated with As(V).
